A Brampton man is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a two-year-old child who succumbed to injuries more than two years ago, police say.
According to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), officers from the Bracebridge detachment responded to a call on January 5, 2023, involving a severely injured child. The toddler was taken to hospital but later died from their injuries.
Following an extensive investigation, OPP announced on Wednesday that two individuals have now been arrested and charged in relation to the child’s death.
Tyler Phillip Whale, 24, of Brampton, has been charged with second-degree murder. In addition, Justine Osborne, 33, of Gravenhurst, is facing a charge of failing to provide the necessaries of life.
Both individuals were arrested earlier this week—Whale on Tuesday and Osborne on Wednesday. They are expected to appear in court in Bracebridge on Friday.
