Brampton Hosts Inaugural Polish Heritage Month Celebration

The City of Brampton proudly marked a new chapter in its multicultural celebrations by hosting the first-ever Polish Heritage Month celebration, spotlighting the rich traditions and enduring contributions of Polish Canadians to Brampton and Canada at large.

Held at Ken Whillans Square and Brampton City Hall, the event brought together residents, leaders, and cultural ambassadors for an unforgettable afternoon of music, dance, food, and community connection. The event opened with a flag-raising ceremony, symbolizing Brampton’s commitment to celebrating cultural heritage and inclusivity.

Guests enjoyed traditional Polish folk performances, vibrant costumes, and the sharing of authentic Polish cuisine, offering a taste of the rich heritage and spirit of Poland. The celebration highlighted Brampton’s dedication to honouring the cultural fabric that binds its diverse communities.

This inaugural event was hosted in partnership with the Canadian Polish Business Association, with Andrea Baranowski playing a pivotal role in organizing and promoting the event.

“It was a special day as we celebrated the first Polish Flag raising in Brampton and Polish Heritage Month,” said Mayor Patrick Brown. “The Polish community has made significant contributions to our city, and this event was a meaningful tribute to that legacy.”

Regional Councillor Rowena Santos, who joined the celebration, added:
“It’s truly inspiring to see Brampton’s Polish community celebrated in such a vibrant and inclusive way. This inaugural Polish Heritage Month event is a powerful reminder of how cultural heritage strengthens our city, and I’m proud to stand in solidarity with our Polish neighbours.”

Organized with heart and enthusiasm, this celebration marks the beginning of an annual tradition in Brampton. The city extends its appreciation to all attendees, performers, and partners who helped bring the celebration to life.

She added: “This launch is just the beginning of a long-term commitment in investing in women not just for today, but for the future of the Indian entertainment industry.”

The City of Brampton remains committed to honouring the contributions of all communities that make up its diverse population and looks forward to celebrating Polish Heritage Month for years to come.
