TTC Announces Major Service Increases Starting March 30, 2025

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow announced today significant enhancements to TTC service across North York, Etobicoke, and Scarborough, beginning March 30. These changes will bring more frequent and reliable transit options to communities throughout Toronto, addressing a longstanding need for improved public transportation.

At the announcement held at Steeles Avenue West and Weston Road, Mayor Chow highlighted key improvements, including a substantial increase in Saturday afternoon bus services. Routes such as 60 Steeles West, 165 Weston Rd. North, and 960 Steeles West Express will see bus frequency improve from every three-to-four minutes to every two minutes, effectively matching weekday service levels. The changes will add 26 additional buses, increasing the total to over 1,100 buses operating during Saturday afternoons.

“Torontonians deserve better, more frequent transit, and that’s exactly what our investments are delivering,” said Mayor Chow. “Our historic TTC investment in Budget 2025 is funding more frequent, reliable, and affordable public transit that connects Torontonians to schools, jobs, and each other.”

TTC Chair Jamaal Myers emphasized the importance of these enhancements: “We are investing more than ever in the TTC to increase service, strengthen connections, and improve reliability. These improvements are about getting the basics right for our customers—providing transit that better connects people to jobs, education, and key retail destinations.”

Greg Percy, CEO of the TTC, also unveiled a new route management pilot aimed at addressing service bunching. Uniformed supervisors will be strategically placed along eleven key routes, including 506 Carlton, 512 St. Clair, 7 Bathurst, and 29 Dufferin, to help buses and streetcars maintain consistent spacing and reduce customer wait times.

Additional service improvements effective from March 30 include:

  • Enhanced Monday to Friday bus services on routes including 16 McCowan, 39 Finch East, 57 Midland, and others.
  • Increased weekend frequency on popular bus routes like 60 Steeles West, 89 Weston, 116 Morningside, and more.
  • A significant 33% increase in subway service frequency on Line 4 Sheppard, reducing customer wait times substantially.
  • Enhanced streetcar services on routes 505 Dundas and 506 Carlton, as well as improved overnight services on the 310 Spadina route.

These enhancements reaffirm Toronto’s commitment to providing accessible, frequent, and reliable transit, significantly benefiting daily commuters across the city.
