City of Brampton to Raise Bangladeshi Flag in Celebration of Bangladesh Independence Day

The City of Brampton proudly announces the raising of the Bangladeshi flag at Ken Whillans Square, Brampton City Hall, in recognition of Bangladesh Independence Day. This event underscores the city’s commitment to celebrating the rich culture, heritage, and contributions of the Bangladeshi community in Brampton and across Canada.​

The flag-raising ceremony will feature remarks from community leaders, cultural performances, and the singing of national anthems, reflecting the vibrant spirit of the Bangladeshi community.​

The City of Brampton recognizes the importance of such events in fostering inclusivity and celebrating the diverse communities that enrich our city.​

Bangladesh Independence Day, observed annually on March 26, commemorates the country’s declaration of independence from Pakistan in 1971. It is a day of national pride and reflection for Bangladeshis worldwide.​

The City of Brampton offers community flag raisings to celebrate the strength of Brampton’s diversity, equality, and inclusivity. Community flags are raised on the Community Flag Pole located in Ken Whillans Square outside Brampton City Hall. Flag raising ceremonies are a maximum of 1 hour in length, with the agenda developed by the community organizers.
