Canada Post has announced that former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will be featured on a commemorative stamp as part of its 2025 stamp lineup, paying tribute to his legacy as one of Canada’s most consequential leaders.
Mulroney, who served as Canada’s 18th prime minister from 1984 to 1993, passed away last year. The stamp will be officially unveiled at a ceremony in Montreal this Thursday.
Canada Post has long upheld a tradition of recognizing former Canadian prime ministers for their contributions to the nation. Mulroney’s tenure was marked by landmark achievements, including the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, environmental protection initiatives, and efforts to improve Indigenous relations.
“This stamp is a tribute to Brian Mulroney’s legacy and the lasting impact of his leadership on Canada,” Canada Post stated in its announcement.
In addition to Mulroney’s tribute, Canada Post’s 2025 stamp series will also feature:
- Historic sites significant to LGBTQ+ rights in Canada
- Notable graphic novelists
- Unique Canadian fungi species
The official unveiling ceremony will bring together family, dignitaries, and political figures to reflect on Mulroney’s contributions to Canada’s history.
