City of Brampton’s Youth Cricket League Returns in 2025 with Expanded Opportunities for Young Athletes

The City of Brampton is thrilled to announce the return of its Youth Cricket League for a second year, building on the success of its 2024 debut, which saw nearly 100 young athletes take to the field. In 2025, the program will expand to offer even greater opportunities for youth to engage with cricket, Canada’s fastest-growing sport, through the addition of a new spring session alongside the established summer league.

Due to overwhelming demand and the league’s inaugural success, the City is introducing a spring session to complement the popular summer program. This expansion provides Brampton’s youth with more chances to develop their cricket skills, participate in friendly competition, and deepen their passion for the sport. The spring session begins April 29, 2025, with registration now open, while the summer session starts July 7, 2025, with registration opening June 2, 2025. Spots are available for both sessions, and families can register at brampton.ca/cricket.

Open to players aged 6 to 15 of all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned cricketers—the league features three age divisions: Under 9 (U9), Under 12 (U12), and Under 15 (U15). The program offers a balanced mix of structured practices and gameplay, fostering skill development and enjoyment. The 2025 Youth Cricket League is proudly sponsored by Centaur Products Inc.

Cricket’s rapid rise in Brampton reflects its status as a global sport, and the City remains dedicated to supporting its growth by enhancing accessibility through investments in infrastructure, leagues, and programming. Brampton’s commitment includes:

  • A $10-million investment over the next two years, approved in the 2025 Budget, to upgrade cricket facilities with lighting and other improvements.
  • 22 cricket sites citywide, with plans for further expansion.
  • Hosting the GT20 Tournament in summer 2024 for the third consecutive year, showcasing top international talent.
  • Over 19,000 hours of field time booked annually by 70 unique seasonal organizations, tournaments, and individuals.
  • The City Lands project, a proposed redevelopment at Kennedy Road South near Highways 410 and 407, featuring a state-of-the-art, multi-purpose cricket facility at the CAA Sports and Entertainment Complex.
  • A partnership with the Peel District School Board to develop a fully lit cricket facility with artificial turf wickets and player pavilions at Turner Fenton Secondary School.
