Tory Tumble: Liberals Surge in Polls as Carney’s Star Rises

The Conservative Party’s once-iron grip on Canadian voters is slipping fast, with polls showing a Liberal comeback fueled by Mark Carney’s shine. Three INsauga.com surveys since December reveal the tide turning since Justin Trudeau’s January 6 exit as Liberal leader, after months of dismal numbers and caucus mutiny.

Back in December, INsauga’s poll had Conservatives at 64.58% (651 votes) and Liberals at 18.75% (189). Post-Trudeau, with Carney’s buzz building, February flipped the script: Liberals hit 47.58% (11,891 votes), edging out Conservatives at 45.48% (11,366). A pre-leadership vote poll on March 9 echoed the shift, aligning with national trends.

Leger’s March 10 survey pegged both parties at 37%—a six-point Conservative drop and a seven-point Liberal leap in a week. Nanos polls confirm the gap’s shrinking. With Parliament prorogued until March 24 and Carney crowned Liberal chief on March 9, whispers of an early election swirl.
