Ontario’s primary liquor retailer, the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), has started pulling American-made alcohol from its physical and online shelves, reacting to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canadian exports.
On Tuesday morning, Premier Doug Ford’s office confirmed he ordered the LCBO to halt sales of U.S. alcohol. Speaking Monday, Ford highlighted that the LCBO typically snaps up roughly $1 billion in American liquor annually—a flow now cut off.
