Outlook Outage Sparks Social Media Storm, Microsoft Responds

A widespread glitch struck Microsoft services, including Outlook, on Saturday, locking countless users out of their email accounts. Microsoft acknowledged the issue but avoided terming it an outage, saying only that it was “investigating reports of users unable to use Outlook features and services” in posts on X.

The problem surfaced just past 3:40 p.m. EST, per Downdetector, which recorded over 4,000 reports by 4:11 p.m. Social media lit up with user gripes, though a few reported their access had been restored as the afternoon wore on.

The disruption follows hot on the heels of a Slack outage earlier this week, which left thousands unable to connect. Microsoft’s response remains ongoing as it works to resolve the snag.
