Victory Speech
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd at Calypso Hut in Brampton on election night, Williams thanked her supporters and reiterated her commitment to tackling some of the city’s biggest challenges, including healthcare, infrastructure, and job creation.
“I am beyond grateful for the trust that the residents of Brampton Centre have placed in me once again,” Williams said. “This victory is not just mine—it belongs to the people of Brampton who want to see real progress and real results. Together, we will continue to fight for better healthcare, stronger infrastructure, and economic opportunities that lift everyone up.”
Williams emphasized the importance of addressing economic concerns, including the impact of U.S. trade policies under President Donald Trump.
“Brampton is a manufacturing city. If there are tariffs, it could really impact jobs in our city. I don’t want to see anyone lose their livelihoods due to external forces. That’s why our government will stand strong in this fight,” she stated.
She also reaffirmed her dedication to making Brampton a safer and more prosperous city, saying, “People need to feel secure. They need hope for the future, and I will continue to work tirelessly to bring that hope to reality.”
Statement from Gian Paul, Chairperson of Flower City Friends Club (FCFC)
Gian Paul, Chairperson of Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) and a strong supporter of Charmaine Williams, congratulated her on her well-deserved re-election and shared his hopes for her leadership in Brampton’s future.
“Charmaine Williams has been a dedicated advocate for Brampton since day one. Her hard work and passion for this city are undeniable. She has stood with our seniors, worked for families, and fought for better healthcare and infrastructure. Her victory is a win for all of us,” Paul said.

He expressed his expectations for Williams to prioritize key community concerns, particularly senior welfare, healthcare expansion, and transit improvements.
“We need strong leadership to ensure Brampton’s seniors have access to the resources and support they deserve. I know Charmaine will continue to push for more healthcare funding, faster development of Peel Memorial’s expansion, and improved transit to meet the needs of our growing population,” he added.
Background and Career
Williams made history in 2018 as the first Black woman elected to Brampton City Council, representing Wards 7 and 8. During her time on council, she worked on community safety initiatives, including supporting a gun amnesty buyback program and regulating the sale of marijuana near schools.
In the 2022 provincial election, she was elected MPP for Brampton Centre and was later appointed as Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, becoming the first Black person in an Ontario PC government cabinet.
Looking ahead, Williams outlined her priorities for the next four years, focusing on:
- Healthcare Expansion: “We’re building the second hospital—Phase 2 of Peel Memorial. I want to see that built. I want to see the cancer centre. I don’t like people having to drive to Mississauga for radiation treatments. I want to see that here.”
- Education & Job Growth: “I want to see more doctors graduate from [Toronto Metropolitan University]’s medical school and stay here to serve our community.”
- Transportation & Infrastructure: “Highway 413 is essential. Riverwalk is a game-changer for downtown Brampton. And we are fully committed to the LRT extension into downtown.”
Williams’ victory contributed to the PC Party securing all five Brampton ridings, with re-elections for:
- Amarjot Sandhu (Brampton West)
- Hardeep Grewal (Brampton East)
- Graham McGregor (Brampton North)
- Prabmeet Sarkaria (Brampton South)
The sweep solidifies Brampton as a stronghold for the Progressive Conservative Party, reflecting continued voter confidence in their leadership.
