Three Terms & Counting: Amarjot Sandhu’s Continued Commitment to Brampton West

In a decisive victory, Amarjot Sandhu has been re-elected for a third term as the Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for Brampton West, representing the Progressive Conservative (PC) Party. First elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022, Sandhu continues to demonstrate strong support within his constituency.

With all polls reporting, Sandhu secured a commanding lead with over 56% of the vote. His closest competitor, Liberal candidate Andrew Kania, garnered approximately 32.5% of the vote. Other candidates included Samuel Sarjeant of the Ontario NDP, Ethan Russell of the Green Party, David Pardy of the New Blue Party, and independent candidate Pushpek Sidhu. Voter turnout in Brampton West was reported at 35.15%, with 95,678 registered electors.

Victory Speech

In his victory speech, Sandhu expressed profound gratitude to his supporters and constituents. He stated, “It’s been the highest honour for me to serve all the proud residents of Brampton West. With your support and vote, I’ll continue to be your strong voice at Queen’s Park.”

Reflecting on his journey, Sandhu remarked, “Arriving in Canada as an international student, I could have never imagined standing here today. This community embraced me, and I am committed to giving back by working tirelessly for our shared future.”

Addressing his plans for the upcoming term, he emphasized, “We have made significant strides in infrastructure and community development, but our work is far from over. Together, we will continue to build a Brampton West that offers opportunities and prosperity for all.”

Sandhu also acknowledged his fellow candidates, stating, “I extend my gratitude to all the candidates for their dedication and spirited campaigns. Our democratic process thrives because of such active participation.”

Amarjot Sandhu’s journey is a testament to dedication and community engagement. Arriving in Canada in 2008 as an international student, he pursued his studies at George Brown College in Toronto, obtaining a post-graduate degree in wireless networking. During his academic tenure, Sandhu showcased leadership by founding the International Students’ Federation, aiming to support fellow international students in their transition to Canadian life.

Before venturing into politics, Sandhu amassed experience as a computer engineer and network analyst. He later transitioned to real estate, working as a realtor in Brampton. His diverse professional background provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities within his community.

In 2018, Sandhu made history by becoming the first individual who arrived in Canada as an international student to be elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. His tenure has been marked by active participation in various committees and roles. Notably, he served as the Chair of the Standing Committee on Finance and Economic Affairs from 2019 to 2021, where he oversaw discussions on provincial financial matters. Additionally, Sandhu was a member of the Standing Committee on General Government and the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private Bills. In July 2021, he was appointed as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure, contributing to the advancement of key infrastructure projects across Ontario.

Throughout his tenure, Sandhu has been a vocal advocate for infrastructure development, economic growth, and community well-being in Brampton West. His re-election signifies continued trust from his constituents in his vision and leadership. Looking ahead, Sandhu has expressed a commitment to further enhancing local infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and ensuring that the voices of Brampton West residents are heard at the provincial level.
