Newmarket’s McDonald’s Gets a McDavid Makeover After 4 Nations Face-Off Win

After leading Canada to victory in the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship with a thrilling overtime goal, Connor McDavid is being honored in a way that only a hometown legend could—by having a McDonald’s restaurant in Newmarket renamed ‘McDavid’s’ for an entire week.

At 2 p.m. on February 27, the McDonald’s location on Davis Drive will officially take on the temporary name, fulfilling a promise made during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs that if McDavid delivered a championship, a local McDonald’s would bear his name.

The celebration doesn’t stop at the name change. McDonald’s is keeping the Big Mac-David burger on the menu—a special edition burger that debuted as part of The Showdown, a campaign featuring NHL superstars McDavid and Auston Matthews.

And for fans looking to get in on the action, the Davis Drive location will be offering 97-cent World Famous Fries on Friday, February 28, from 11 a.m. to midnight, in a nod to McDavid’s iconic jersey number.

“At McDavid’s, we’re celebrating more than just a name change; we’re celebrating community pride and the sport that brings us all together,” said McDonald’s Canada franchisee Peter Miller in a press release.

“Honoring our hometown hero Connor McDavid and our team’s incredible win is a testament to our shared spirit here in Newmarket. Come and enjoy the Big Mac-David and be part of this exciting chapter for our community.”

For hockey fans and fast food lovers alike, this week at “McDavid’s” is shaping up to be a celebration worth savoring.
