Boyfriend Uncooperative as Investigation Intensifies
Hamilton Police have commenced a comprehensive search of the Glanbrook Landfill in connection with the disappearance of 40-year-old Shalini Singh, who was last heard from on December 4, 2024. Authorities suspect foul play and are focusing on the landfill after initial leads suggested her remains may have been disposed of through her apartment building’s garbage system.
Singh was reported missing by her family on December 10, 2024, after an unusual phone call with her mother raised concerns. At the time of her disappearance, she resided with her common-law boyfriend in a downtown Hamilton apartment. The boyfriend, whose identity has not been disclosed, was located on December 11 but has refused to cooperate with the investigation. Detectives have not labeled him a suspect or person of interest but are examining his potential involvement.
Investigators have reviewed hundreds of hours of surveillance footage from the apartment complex, noting that there is no evidence of Singh leaving the building after December 4. Early searches at the Kenora Waste Transfer Station yielded no results, leading police to the Glanbrook Landfill, where the majority of the building’s waste is deposited. The search operation began on February 24 and is expected to continue for several weeks.
Hamilton Police urge anyone with information regarding Shalini Singh’s disappearance to contact Det. Adam Baglieri at 905-546-3859 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
