Two men from Toronto and North York have been charged following an investigation into fraudulent credit card purchases at a Clarington hardware store.
Durham Regional Police began their investigation last month after two suspects used a fraudulent credit card to buy over $11,000 worth of materials and tools at Home Hardware on 2423 Rundle Road.
On Thursday, May 23, police arrested one suspect, followed by the second on Tuesday, June 4.
Giuseppe Natale, 55, of Toronto, faces charges of fraud over $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
David Gottardo, 58, of North York, is charged with fraud over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unauthorized use of credit card data, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Natale was released with a promise to appear in court, while Gottardo was held for a bail hearing.
Authorities believe there may be other victims of similar fraud. Anyone with information or who has been defrauded by the suspects is urged to contact Det. Chapman at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5352.
