Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the Fiesta Extravaganza Filipino Festival in Brampton on July 13, 2024. The event, held at Chinguacousy Park, celebrated Philippine culture with food vendors, performers, and various festivities.
Trudeau, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland, mingled with guests and expressed his appreciation for the vibrant Filipino community in a social media post, saying, “The Filipino community here really knows how to throw a party.” He also thanked Brampton for the warm welcome.
Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and city council members were present, with Brown addressing the crowd at the closing ceremonies.
Regional Councillor Rowena Santos also praised the event, saying, “The Fiesta Extravaganza is a testament to the rich cultural diversity that makes Brampton so special. It’s wonderful to see our community come together to celebrate and share in the vibrant Filipino heritage.”
Additionally, Trudeau made a stop in Mississauga for MP Iqra Khalid’s annual summer barbecue at Erin Meadows Community Centre. This visit followed his appearance at a Brampton fundraiser last month at the Dreams Convention Centre.
