A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a series of alleged hate-motivated incidents targeting the Jewish community in Toronto and York Region, according to York Regional Police. Investigators say the probe began in November after reports of antisemitic phone calls made to staff at synagogues, community centres and Jewish schools across the region. Police allege the youth made indecent and hateful comments during the calls and arrested him Wednesday at a residence in Newmarket, where officers also seized a substance believed to be psilocybin. The teen now faces 10 counts of mischief relating to religious property, 10 counts of indecent communications and one drug-related offence. Police are asking anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation continues.
