Guided by feedback from athletes, Team Canada has introduced a new lineup of attire designed by Lululemon for the upcoming Paris Olympics, which are just under 100 days away.
The unveiling follows extensive product testing and consultations involving 19 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes from 14 different sports. These sessions ensured that the outfits not only looked stylish but were also functional and comfortable.
Para-rugby athlete Zak Madell emphasized the significance of the apparel’s design. “The key aspect of this process was Lululemon’s dedication to making clothing that is both accessible and suitable for Paralympians,” Madell commented. “It’s about more than just aesthetics; it’s about how the outfits make us feel.”
The reveal event showcased some of Canada’s top Olympic and Paralympic athletes modeling their new uniforms. Among them was Damian Warner, the reigning Olympic decathlon champion, who noted, “This kit allows us to express our personal style while uniting us in our Canadian pride.”
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) highlighted that the athlete kit skillfully merges functionality with style, employing advanced materials and innovative designs that feature modern cuts and motifs inspired by Canadian themes.
The comprehensive wardrobe will be donned by athletes, coaches, and support staff at various official occasions, including medal ceremonies, media engagements, and both the opening and closing ceremonies.
David Shoemaker, CEO of Canada’s Olympic Committee, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Lululemon, recognizing the brand’s alignment with the team’s values and mission. “Our athletes are poised to not only excel in their sports but also capture attention with their standout appearance in Paris,” he stated.
Noteworthy features of the new uniforms include magnetic zippers, easy-grip loops, and tactile cues, which cater to a wide array of physical needs and preferences.
Lululemon’s role as the official outfitter for Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic teams commenced at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games, following the conclusion of a long-standing partnership with Hudson’s Bay Company after the Tokyo Olympics.
