Dubbed Project Flaherty, the investigation began in December 2024 after authorities identified a surge in retail thefts, with over $60,000 worth of products stolen. Police reported a 135% increase in similar incidents compared to 2023, with more than 180 cases recorded.

Three individuals have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime:

  • Vishavjeet Singh, 22, of no fixed address
  • Sukmander Singh, 23, of Brampton
  • Dalwal Sidhu, 28, of Brampton

Three others face charges of theft under $5,000:

  • Navdeep Chaudhary, 22, of Brampton
  • Kamaldeep Singh, 38, of no fixed address
  • Harkerat Singh, 25, of no fixed address

Authorities are now expanding their probe to businesses that may have purchased the stolen goods. Peel Police urge any affected retailers or individuals with information to come forward.

This case highlights a growing trend in food-related thefts, with rising grocery prices making dairy products a prime target for criminals.
