A sweeping joint investigation involving police forces across Ontario and Quebec has led to the arrest of 13 people and the takedown of what York Regional Police describe as a violent, highly organized criminal group linked to murders, attempted murders, carjackings, robberies, home invasions and even an attempted kidnapping. The investigation, named Project Wrangler, was launched after a wave of violent incidents reported between April 15, 2024, and March 20, 2025, across southern and eastern Ontario and into Quebec.
Among those arrested is a 19-year-old Brampton man charged by Quebec police with first-degree murder, along with eight additional offences laid by York police. Another 19-year-old Brampton man is facing an attempted murder charge as part of nine total counts. A 16-year-old Mississauga boy is facing two attempted murder charges — one from York police and one from London police — along with eight further charges. Three other youths from Peel Region, ages 16 and 17, are accused of robbery with a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police carried out six search warrants across five locations between April and December 2025, resulting in the arrests and the seizure of four firearms. In total, 150 charges have been laid so far, though officers say the investigation is ongoing.
Two suspects remain at large: 20-year-old Ingram Mohamed of Hamilton, wanted for first-degree murder, and 24-year-old Trestin Cassanova-Alman, wanted on 27 charges including conspiracy to commit murder and participation in a criminal organization.
York police partnered with Peel Regional Police, Toronto Police Service, London Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and the Sûreté du Québec to dismantle what they allege was a mobile criminal network operating across multiple jurisdictions. York Police Chief Jim MacSween said criminal groups “know no borders,” emphasizing that only coordinated policing can effectively counter them. Peel Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah called the investigation “a major blow against a highly organized criminal network that was fuelling fear and violence,” adding that such offenders “have no place in Peel or our neighbouring communities.”
Other suspects charged include a 19-year-old Ajax woman accused of robbery with a weapon and participation in a criminal organization, two Quebec men — one from Rimouski and another with no fixed address — both charged with first-degree murder, and men from Niagara Falls and Kitchener. One 19-year-old with no fixed address faces an unprecedented 65 charges, including three attempted murders.
Police are urging anyone with information about the wanted suspects, or anyone who believes they may have been victimized by this group but have not reported it, to contact investigators at 1-866-876-5423.
