A new poll by Mainstreet Research indicates a very tight race in Mississauga’s upcoming mayoral by-election, with leading candidates neck-and-neck just days before the election.
The poll, conducted on June 3-4 with 1,176 Mississauga voters, reveals Carolyn Parrish with 21% support among decided and leaning voters, closely followed by Dipika Damerla at 20%, Alvin Tedjo at 17%, Stephen Dasko at 15%, and Brian Crombie at 4%. Five percent of respondents plan to vote for another candidate, while 18% remain undecided.
As the election approaches on June 10, the race has intensified, with Parrish’s previously substantial lead dwindling. Voter opinions on key issues such as housing, job creation, and transit are split among the candidates, making the outcome uncertain.
“It could be a long night for Mississauga voters on Monday,” said Quito Maggi, President of Mainstreet Research.
The mayoral by-election will determine the successor to Bonnie Crombie, who stepped down as mayor earlier this year after winning the Ontario Liberal Party leadership.
