Peel Regional Police have released new photographs of a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of his parents, as investigators continue an intensive search more than a week after the fatal incident in Mississauga.
Police are searching for 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin, who is wanted in relation to the deaths of Carol Sangwin, 70, and Garwood “Gary” Sangwin, 71. The couple was found seriously injured inside their Briarwood Avenue home in the Port Credit neighbourhood on the evening of June 18. Emergency responders transported both victims to hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed the cause of death but have issued a Canada-wide warrant charging Jordan Sangwin with two counts of first-degree murder. The charges have not been proven in court.
Authorities say the suspect has remained at large since the incident. Police believe he was last seen on the night of June 22 in the area of High Park in Toronto and is thought to be travelling on foot.
Investigators have described the wanted man as having a medium build, short salt-and-pepper hair, and being clean-shaven. At the time of his last reported sighting, he was wearing a grey long-sleeved shirt, dark shorts, and carrying a black duffel bag.
Police have warned the public that Sangwin should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach or confront him but to immediately call 911 and provide his location to authorities.
Investigators have also reminded the public that knowingly assisting, harbouring, or concealing a person who is wanted by police could result in criminal charges.
The deaths of the elderly couple have deeply affected the Port Credit community, where neighbours and friends have remembered Carol and Gary Sangwin as kind, caring, and devoted family members. Their sudden deaths have left relatives, friends, and community members grieving the loss of two well-respected residents.
A fundraising campaign established to support surviving family members has described the couple as beloved parents and grandparents whose passing has created an immeasurable loss for their loved ones.
Peel Regional Police continue to encourage Jordan Sangwin to obtain legal counsel and surrender peacefully to authorities. The investigation remains active, and officers are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact police immediately as efforts continue to bring the case before the courts.
