Ontario Announces $1 Billion Boost for Home Care ServicesToronto, Ontario – October 27, 2025

The Ontario government will invest an additional $1 billion over three years to strengthen home care services across the province, Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy announced today as part of the upcoming Fall Economic Statement.

The new funding represents an eight per cent increase in provincial spending on home care and is designed to reduce hospital pressures by ensuring that more Ontarians receive the care they need in their homes and communities.

“By investing in home care, we’re freeing up hospital beds and ensuring people can get care in the right place,” said Minister Bethlenfalvy. “This investment supports our long-term plan to improve access to care, enhance patient experiences, and help seniors live independently for longer.”

In addition to the $982 million home care expansion, the province will allocate $170 million over three years to expand the Hospital to Home program, which supports patients transitioning safely from hospital stays to home-based recovery.

This announcement builds on the $2 billion investment over three years for home care introduced by the Ford government in 2024. The province says those earlier investments have already led to an 18 per cent increase in the number of patients accessing home care services over the past two years.

The new funding will further enhance support for personal care, nursing, and therapy services, while helping address staffing shortages across the health-care system.

With Ontario’s population continuing to grow and age, today’s announcement underscores the government’s ongoing commitment to modernizing and expanding community-based care to ensure that health services remain accessible, sustainable, and responsive to patient needs.
