Mississauga Marathon Returns with Scenic Sprints and Community Spirit

The Mississauga Marathon is set to return on Sunday, April 27, bringing thousands of runners and spectators together for what organizers are calling “the GTA’s best spring marathon.” Now in its 22nd year, the Beneva Mississauga Marathon promises to deliver a full day of racing, celebration, and community spirit across the streets of one of Canada’s most vibrant cities.

Kicking off at 7:30 a.m. in the downtown core between Celebration Square and city hall, the full 42-kilometre marathon and half-marathon will test the endurance of runners of all backgrounds and experience levels. The Trillium Health Partners 10K begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 5K race starting at 10 a.m., offering something for everyone—from seasoned marathoners to first-time participants.

The scenic course winds through the heart of Mississauga, offering sweeping views of Lake Ontario and a glimpse into some of the city’s most iconic areas. Runners will cross the Credit River, pass through the prestigious University of Toronto Mississauga campus, and race by historic neighborhoods and landmarks, including the beloved Port Credit lighthouse. With a net downhill design, the course is known to be both picturesque and fast—ideal for those hoping to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon.

Organizers say the event isn’t just about athleticism—it’s about connection. With more than 15,000 people expected to take part or cheer from the sidelines, the race has become a celebration of fitness, community, and local pride. “Whether you’re a runner, supporter, or just looking to be part of something special, this event is about the spirit of Mississauga,” they said.

This year’s race reinstates the full marathon distance, which was dropped from the lineup in 2023 for the first time in the event’s history. Its return in 2024 brought with it a refreshed energy and a renewed commitment to positioning Mississauga as a premier destination for runners from across the region and beyond.

Throughout the course, cheer stations and a unique personalized “Cheers” screen will broadcast live race moments, offering an extra boost of motivation. Every participant will also receive a race kit packed with samples and products from the event’s sponsors and partners.

The experience doesn’t end at the finish line. Lakefront Promenade Park, the final destination for marathoners, will mark the start of post-race celebrations. Over at Celebration Square, a lively atmosphere awaits, complete with music, food vendors, multimedia screens, and entertainment for all ages.

Race registration remains open until midnight on April 22, and those attending on the big day can also enjoy the vendor expo in the Great Hall of the Mississauga Civic Centre. With free parking and a full lineup of local businesses, restaurants, and shops to explore, the event offers something for every visitor—even if they’re not lacing up to run.
