Historic Turnout for 11th Annual Bike the Creek: 2,200 Cyclists Celebrate Active Transportation in Brampton Region

Brampton, ON – June 9, 2025 – This past weekend marked a significant milestone for healthy living and environmental stewardship: a record-breaking 2,200 cyclists of all ages and abilities rolled along Brampton’s scenic trails for the 11th Annual Bike the Creek. The free community ride showcased a range of routes—from family-friendly excursions to challenging regional rides—designed to highlight active transportation, community wellness, and sustainability .

Organized in proud partnership with the City of Brampton, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), BikeBrampton, the City of Mississauga, and the Town of Caledon, the event once again underscored the power of collaboration in building healthier, more connected communities .

Celebrating Community and Wellness

Hosted at the Jim Archdekin Recreation Centre in Brampton, participants had the option to choose from a variety of ride lengths:

  • 6 km Family Ride
  • 15 km Family Ride
  • 25 km Nature Ride
  • 65 km Caledon Town Ride
  • 68 km Regional Ride .

Program Highlights

The day featured:

  • Complimentary ride briefings and signage, including Ride with GPS support
  • A free BBQ lunch (meat and vegetarian) and salad, served from 11:15 a.m.
  • Family-friendly activities and booths
  • Bike valet parking and safety reminders (helmets strongly encouraged for all riders under 16) .

Over 50 dedicated volunteers supported the event, ensuring smooth operations and a welcoming atmosphere.

Council Leadership and Personal Touch

Regional Councillor Rowena Santos—wearing several hats as Chair of Community Services, Executive Board member of TRCA, and a member of Brampton’s Active Transportation Advisory Committee—personally participated in the ride. “It was a joy to support Bike the Creek once again,” she shared. “Planning this event with TRCA and BikeBrampton reflects our city’s commitment to active living and sustainability. I’m particularly proud—I rode this course with my son on training wheels during the first year.”

Councillor Santos also expressed gratitude to sponsors and partners whose contributions made the event free and accessible: “Thank you to all sponsors and the community for making this historic turnout possible.”
