Over 100 members of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC) gathered for a joyous trip to Centre Island, Toronto on June 15, 2024 celebrating Father’s Day with a unique blend of relaxation, wellness, and cultural festivities. The event was honored by the presence of Sonia Sidhu, MP, who kicked off the trip at Trinity Mall in Brampton, extending her best wishes to all attendees.
The day commenced with an enthusiastic address by Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South, who remarked, “It’s a pleasure to see our community coming together to celebrate such a special occasion. Today, we honor the fathers among us, celebrating their contributions and enjoying the companionship and unity that events like these foster. I wish everyone a wonderful day filled with joy, relaxation, and togetherness.”
Upon arrival at Centre Island, attendees were greeted with excellent weather and a meticulously organized itinerary. The members enjoyed a delightful breakfast before diving into the day’s activities. The highlight was a Yoga session led by renowned Yoga expert Anuja Kabuli, who guided participants through a series of exercises designed to enhance physical and mental well-being. The serene island backdrop provided the perfect setting for this rejuvenating session.

In addition to the Yoga session, the itinerary included a variety of activities catering to different interests. Members engaged in beach volleyball, enjoyed leisurely strolls around the island, and participated in a photo scavenger hunt designed to capture the island’s natural beauty. The event also featured an interactive workshop on healthy eating habits, emphasizing the importance of nutrition in overall well-being.
The celebration continued with a delicious picnic lunch featuring a variety of cuisines to cater to diverse tastes. As the day progressed, the atmosphere turned festive with fun songs, entertainment, and traditional dances, including Gidhha and Bhangra, performed on the beach. The vibrant performances, accompanied by live music, added to the festive atmosphere, allowing members to connect with their cultural roots and share in the joy of the occasion.
The FCFC also organized a special Father’s Day tribute, where members shared heartfelt stories and messages of appreciation for the fathers and father figures in their lives. This emotional segment of the event underscored the importance of family and community bonds.
