Visit initiated through efforts of Flower City Friends Club (FCFC)
Brampton – Over 50 local residents gathered at Weybridge Park this week as Regional Councillor Paul Vicente visited the area along with his staff to gain first-hand insight into the current state of park amenities, particularly those affecting senior citizens. The visit was initiated through the dedicated efforts of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC), a grassroots organization committed to enhancing the well-being, safety, and social inclusion of seniors in Brampton.
Flower City Friends Club (FCFC), has played a vital role in bringing community concerns to the forefront and creating opportunities for dialogue between residents and city officials. Through regular programming, educational seminars, and outdoor gatherings, the club empowers seniors to remain active, engaged, and connected.
During the site walk, Councillor Vicente closely reviewed several key features of the park, including picnic tables, the centrally placed gazebo, the grass-level surface for managing stormwater runoff, and the provision of portable washrooms. These amenities play a vital role in making the park a comfortable and accessible space for people of all ages, especially the elderly.

Following the inspection, Councillor Vicente engaged in a large community meeting and several smaller group discussions where residents voiced their concerns about current park conditions and suggested improvements.
“It’s incredibly important for us to listen to the people who use our parks every day. I’ve heard concerns about drainage, seating availability, and the need for permanent washroom facilities. These are valid issues, and I’m committed to taking these matters to the City of Brampton for further action,” said Councillor Vicente. “Weybridge Park is not just green space—it’s a gathering place that must be safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone, especially our seniors.”
Gian Paul, Chairperson of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC), also spoke at the gathering, praising the Councillor’s initiative.

“Councillor Vicente’s presence today shows real leadership. Listening to the concerns of seniors and families face-to-face creates trust and brings change closer. We are hopeful that the city will act swiftly on the improvements discussed,” said Gian Paul.
Throughout the afternoon, Councillor Vicente demonstrated a patient and empathetic approach, taking time to understand individual concerns raised by residents during one-on-one conversations.
At the conclusion of the event, Ram Singh Daind, a respected community leader from the Weybridge area, extended a heartfelt thank you to Councillor Vicente.
“Our community appreciates your time and dedication. You came here not just as a politician, but as a listener and a problem-solver. We feel heard, and we look forward to seeing the improvements you will champion on our behalf,” said Mr. Daind.
The visit marks a meaningful step in strengthening communication between residents and the City of Brampton leadership and sets a precedent for collaborative community development in other local parks.
