City Council Welcomes Delegation for #RideForRaja Event

Today, the City Council warmly welcomed the delegation for the #RideForRaja event hosted by the Mandeep Singh Cheema Charitable Foundation. This annual event, taking place on June 23, 2024, from 9 AM to 2 PM at the Snelgrove Community Centre, is dedicated to supporting vulnerable youth through the Peel Children’s Aid Foundation.

The Ride for Raja commemorates the life of Mandeep Singh Cheema, affectionately known as Raja, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2012. To honor his memory and passion for motorcycles, the foundation organizes this charity ride annually. Over the years, Ride for Raja has grown into a significant community event, bringing together riders from diverse backgrounds to raise funds for youth in the foster care system.

The Mandeep Singh Cheema Charitable Foundation, a volunteer-run organization, collaborates with Peel Children’s Aid Foundation to support educational and social activities for youth. The funds raised during this event go towards essential programs such as mental health and wellness, post-secondary education, and skills development for at-risk youth.

“Ride for Raja is a beautiful tribute to Mandeep Singh Cheema’s legacy. It showcases the power of community and compassion in supporting our youth. I encourage everyone to participate and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children in our region,” said Rowena Santos, Brampton City Councillor.

Navjit Kaur Brar, Regional Councillor, added, “Events like Ride for Raja highlight the strength and unity of our community. By coming together, we honor Raja’s memory and provide crucial support to youth who need it the most. Let’s ride together for a cause that truly matters.”

The City Council encourages the community to participate in this meaningful event, which not only honors Raja’s legacy but also contributes to the betterment of young lives in the Peel region. Attendees can expect a well-organized motorcycle ride, opening ceremonies, and opportunities to engage with the work being done by Peel Children’s Aid Foundation.
