Breakthrough in Saif Ali Khan Attack: Suspect Detained in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has apprehended a suspect identified as Aakash Kanojia, aged 32-33, in connection with the recent attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence. The suspect was detained on the Jnaneswari Express near Durg, Chhattisgarh, based on a tip-off from the Mumbai Police.

RPF Director General Manoj Yadav confirmed the arrest, stating, “We received information from Juhu Police at 12:30 PM today, January 18, about the accused traveling on the Jnaneswari Express. Our team acted swiftly and apprehended the individual. His identity has been confirmed as the person sought by Mumbai Police.”

The RPF Raipur division, led by IG Munawar Khursheed, coordinated with Mumbai Police to track the suspect. After receiving information about his photograph and tower location, RPF officials conducted a search of the train’s general coach.

Sanjay Sinha, the RPF in-charge at Durg, explained, “We identified the suspect, contacted Mumbai Police through a video call, and confirmed his identity. He has been detained and will be handed over to Mumbai Police for further investigation.”

A team from Mumbai Police is expected to arrive in Raipur shortly to take custody of Kanojia, who is suspected of being involved in the incident that shocked the Bollywood community.

The Mumbai Police are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation. They have formed 20 teams to probe the case, examined CCTV footage, and questioned over 30 individuals, including Saif Ali Khan’s staff and others present in the vicinity on the night of the attack.

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan’s wife, has also recorded her statement with Bandra Police, providing crucial details for the investigation.

The attack on Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra residence sent shockwaves through the film industry. Authorities have been working tirelessly to track down the suspect, with the successful apprehension marking a significant breakthrough.

With the suspect now in custody, the Mumbai Police will lead further interrogation to uncover the motive and details of the attack. Updates on the case are expected as the investigation progresses.
