A Brampton woman has become the city’s newest millionaire after winning $1 million in the Lotto Max draw.
Karamjit Hansra, an automotive worker, rarely buys Lotto Max tickets, usually only when the jackpot is particularly large. She was shocked when she checked her ticket from the May 17 draw and saw the words “Big Winner.”
“I couldn’t believe it,” Hansra said. “I was so surprised that I had my husband check the ticket on his app to make sure.”
After verifying the win and counting the zeros, the couple realized they had indeed won $1 million.
“It felt surreal. I couldn’t stop smiling, and my heart was filled with happiness,” Hansra shared while collecting her prize at the OLG prize centre.
Hansra plans to invest her winnings and let them grow before deciding how to use the money.
Lotto Max tickets are $5 each, with draws on Tuesdays and Fridays. The OLG promotes safe and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
