he City of Brampton is inviting local artists to participate in the third annual Catchbasin Art Project, From Streets to Streams, aimed at raising awareness about stormwater pollution through creative sidewalk murals.
Application Period: March 3 – March 31, 2025 Project Timeline: May – August 2025
Apply at: brampton.ca/catchbasinart
A Selection Committee will choose six artists to paint 12 catchbasins in subdivisions and parks across Brampton. The murals will highlight the connection between city streets and local waterways, encouraging residents to help prevent pollution.
The Catchbasin Art Project is part of Brampton’s Stormwater Program, which educates residents about keeping stormwater clean.
Unlike wastewater, which is treated before being released, stormwater flows directly into local rivers, creeks, and ponds—eventually reaching Lake Ontario, Brampton’s primary source of drinking water. Everyday activities, like washing cars in driveways or overusing road salt, can contaminate stormwater and harm the environment.
Through art, this initiative aims to inspire environmental responsibility while adding vibrant public murals to Brampton’s streets.
