A Brampton man is among three individuals facing charges in connection with an armed robbery at a Toronto jewelry store that occurred nearly two years ago, according to Toronto police.
In a Wednesday update, police provided details on the robbery that took place on September 3, 2022.
Officers were dispatched around 1:08 PM to the Avenue Road and Bloor Street West area in response to a holdup at a jewelry store.
According to the police report, one of four male suspects approached the store’s door, requesting entry. Once the door was opened, all four suspects rushed inside.
“One suspect produced a firearm and made a demand for cash,” the police statement alleged. “Two other suspects wielded hammers and began smashing the glass display cases.”
The suspects reportedly made off with a “large quantity” of jewelry.
Through investigation, police were able to identify three of the suspects. On August 6, one of them surrendered to authorities.
A 17-year-old Toronto boy was charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and possession of property obtained by crime.
Two days later, on August 8, officers located another suspect, who was already in custody on an unrelated matter. Brampton resident Peter Mitsakis, 32, was charged with robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
On Tuesday, police apprehended the third identified suspect, Toronto resident Jordan Boodram, 19, who was charged with robbery with a firearm and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.
Police are urging anyone with additional information about the case to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
