A proposed review of Brampton’s ward boundaries could bring significant changes to the city’s political map before the next municipal election in 2026. The city has presented two scenarios for public consideration, inviting residents to participate in a survey open until November 20 to gather community feedback on the proposed adjustments.
City officials emphasize the importance of the survey, stating it will provide insight into residents’ perspectives on the realignment options, guiding City Council’s decision on which option to implement.
The final public information session is scheduled for November 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Century Gardens Recreation Centre, 340 Vodden Street East, offering residents an opportunity to learn more and engage directly with the proposed plans.
With Brampton’s rapid growth and shifting demographics, the boundary review aims to address population imbalances across wards to maintain equitable representation. Under one proposed scenario, Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8 would expand, while Ward 6 would shrink. A second option suggests similar expansions, leaving Ward 9 unchanged but reducing Wards 6 and 10.
These boundary adjustments must be finalized by December 2025, and the city is encouraging resident input to ensure any changes align with community needs.
