BCCI Announces Rs 125 Crore Prize for T20 World Cup Champions India

In a thrilling finale, India defeated South Africa by seven runs to claim the T20 World Cup 2024 title at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. After choosing to bat first, India posted a score of 176/7, thanks to stellar performances from Virat Kohli (76 off 59) and Axar Patel (47 off 31).

In response, South Africa managed 169/8, with Hardik Pandya (3/20), Arshdeep Singh (2/20), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18) leading the bowling attack. This victory marked India’s second T20 World Cup win and ended an 11-year wait for an ICC trophy.

Following this remarkable achievement, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced a prize of INR 125 Crore for the entire team, including players, coaches, and support staff, highlighting their exceptional talent and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Additionally, India will receive a record $2.45 million from the ICC, bringing their total tournament earnings to INR 22.63 Crore.
