Patanjali’s Managing Director, Acharya Balkrishna, has extended a sincere apology to the Supreme Court for the dissemination of misleading advertisements. In a sworn affidavit, Balkrishna expressed regret and assured the court that such ads would not be released in the future.
The apology comes in response to the Supreme Court’s summons directed towards Patanjali Ayurved and its management regarding the contempt notice issued for the promotion of misleading medicinal cures. In the affidavit, Balkrishna acknowledged the breach of the court’s previous directive dated November 21, 2023.
Additionally, Balkrishna emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting a healthier lifestyle through its products, rooted in ancient literature and supported by Ayurvedic research. This apology follows the court’s ban on Patanjali Ayurved’s advertisements featuring medicines with deceptive claims during a hearing on February 27.
The court had criticized both Patanjali Ayurved and the government for allowing such misleading claims to persist, issuing contempt notices against Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.
