Assault-related crimes have seen a notable upsurge in Mississauga and Brampton since 2023, posing a significant challenge for the region, with over 300 incidents reported to police in the past month.
Between March 6 and April 7, Peel Regional Police documented 303 cases of assault, averaging nine or more incidents per day during this period.
Out of the total 303 assaults reported, Mississauga accounted for 146 cases, while Brampton reported 157 cases.
Comparatively, during the same period last year (March 6 – April 7, 2023), Mississauga and Brampton collectively recorded a mere 18 assault incidents.

While the police data does not specify the types of assault or the extent of injuries sustained by the victims, investigators have resolved 260 out of the 303 assault cases reported this past month, with 25 cases still under investigation and 18 remaining unsolved.
A recent incident in Mississauga involved a massage therapist allegedly sexually assaulting a client during an appointment, adding to the concerning trend.
