Air Canada Adds Direct Flights to Portugal, Czech Republic, and Scotland

Air Canada is expanding its international reach this summer with new flights to several popular European destinations. The airline has launched service to Porto, Portugal; Prague, Czech Republic; and Edinburgh, Scotland, offering more options for travellers looking to explore Europe.

The first of these new routes, from Montreal to Porto, touched down on Thursday morning. Air Canada’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Mark Galardo said the company is excited to return to Porto, which becomes the second Portuguese destination in its network alongside Lisbon.

Galardo noted that the new route is designed to appeal not only to Canadian travellers but to those across the broader North American network. He described Porto as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a vibrant gateway to northern Portugal, known for its rich culture, scenic landscapes, and world-class cuisine.

Flights to Porto will operate on Air Canada’s Airbus 330-300, offering passengers a choice between Economy, Premium Economy, and Signature Class service. The new Porto flights complement Air Canada’s existing service to Lisbon from both Toronto and Montreal.

Later this week, Air Canada will begin direct flights from Toronto to Prague. At the end of June, the airline will also start a new route from Montreal to Edinburgh. These additions follow the recent launch of Montreal to Naples in May and the restart of the Ottawa to London Heathrow route in April.

The new routes are part of Air Canada’s continued effort to meet growing demand for international travel and provide more convenient options to top European destinations.
