007’s Future? British, Brosnan Bets, as Amazon Grabs the Wheel

Pierce Brosnan, the Irish ex-Bond, says the next 007 should be British—end of story. Chatting with the Sunday Telegraph, the 71-year-old, who starred in four spy hits from 1995’s GoldenEye to 2002’s Die Another Day, also saluted the franchise’s big pivot: Amazon MGM Studios now calls the creative shots, easing Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson into co-owner roles.

Brosnan, fresh off launching an art project, lauded the producers’ bold handover, wishing Amazon nails the spy’s next chapter with class. Daniel Craig’s 2021 exit in No Time To Die left the role open, and English lads—James Norton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James—lead the betting pack. Non-Brits like Ireland’s Paul Mescal or America’s Austin Butler float as wild cards, though Bond’s dodged a U.S. accent despite Eastwood’s long-ago snub. Fleming’s books root 007 in Scottish-Swiss heritage, bolstering Brosnan’s pick.

No clue yet on when Bond returns or who’ll don the tux; the gap could smash the six-year record between releases. For Brosnan, it’s about honoring a legacy he’s proud to share—one shaken, not stirred, by Amazon’s new reign.
