19-Year-Old Arrested in Realtor’s Kidnapping and Murder Case in Markham

19-Year-Old Charged in Kidnapping and Murder of Ontario Realtor

A 19-year-old from Toronto has been charged in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Yuk-Ying Anita Mui, a Markham realtor whose burned remains were discovered in Parry Sound, Ontario, in August 2024.

York Regional Police confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, making the teenager the sixth person — and the fifth teenager — charged in this high-profile case. The charges against him include manslaughter, kidnapping, and accessory after the fact to murder.

Mui, 56, was reported missing by her family in early August. Police believe she disappeared from a Stouffville address where she was conducting real estate business. Her remains were found three days later, sparking an intensive investigation.

Police have identified a 47-year-old Markham man as the primary suspect in the case. He is wanted for first-degree murder but is believed to have fled Canada.

Authorities continue to piece together the events surrounding Mui’s disappearance and death. The arrests of six individuals, including five teenagers, underscore the complexity of the investigation.

Mui’s case has shocked the community, with local leaders and residents expressing condolences to her family and calling for justice.
