Five Arrested, 100+ Charges Laid in Mississauga Auto Theft Ring Bust

A major auto theft and trafficking operation spanning Quebec and the Greater Toronto Area has been dismantled after Durham Regional Police arrested five suspects in Mississauga and laid more than 100 charges.

The arrests came Wednesday when officers from the auto theft unit executed a search warrant at a Mississauga residence, recovering eight stolen vehicles on-site. A previous search warrant in Quebec had already led investigators to identify 25 stolen vehicles connected to the same group.

Police say the investigation began in June, ultimately uncovering a network of suspects who allegedly travelled from Quebec to the GTA to steal vehicles for resale. The five individuals arrested — Shainna Faustin, 32, Jean-Junior Goureille, 24, Kyle Cain, 22, Dylan Chimusoro, 19, and Joshua Jean-Louis, 24 — are all Quebec residents now facing dozens of theft and conspiracy-related charges.

All five suspects remain in custody pending bail hearings. Durham police continue to urge anyone with additional information to come forward or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers, with potential rewards of up to $2,000.
