Small Plane Crashes Near Toronto High School Sports Field — No Injuries Reported

Toronto emergency crews say it’s a miracle no one was hurt after a small plane crash-landed just metres from a sports pitch at Monarch Park Collegiate Institute in East York on Monday night.

Toronto Fire Chief Jim Jessop shared a photo of the single-engine aircraft on social media, showing it mostly intact but nose-down on the pavement. The plane came to rest only a few steps away from a soccer goal.

Toronto police confirmed three people were on board the aircraft and that all escaped without injury. No one on the ground was harmed.

“There were no injuries to those on board or anyone nearby,” Jessop said, adding that fire crews quickly secured the area.

The cause of the crash has not been determined. Toronto Police say the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) has been called in to investigate.

The dramatic landing near a busy sports field could have been far worse, but authorities say quick response from first responders ensured the scene was made safe within minutes.
