The City of Brampton is proud to celebrate National Volunteer Week 2025, joining communities across Canada in honouring the dedication and impact of volunteers who help shape stronger, more connected cities. From April 27 to May 3, Brampton will recognize the thousands of individuals whose selfless contributions create positive ripples throughout the community.
Each year, National Volunteer Week offers a chance to highlight the remarkable work of Canada’s approximately 24 million volunteers, whose collective efforts amount to an estimated 2.5 billion hours annually — the equivalent of 2.5 million full-time jobs. This year’s theme, “Volunteers Make Waves,” captures the profound ripple effect a single act of service can have, inspiring change, strengthening communities, and uplifting lives.
In Brampton, volunteers play an essential role in making the city vibrant and inclusive. Their time, skills, and compassion help enhance City programs and services, expand outreach, and build a more welcoming environment for everyone. Whether mentoring youth, supporting cultural events, contributing to public safety initiatives, or leading environmental efforts, their impact is visible in every corner of the city. The City of Brampton extends heartfelt thanks to every volunteer for their unwavering dedication and the powerful waves of positive change they create.
The City also invites residents to join the growing volunteer community. Opportunities are available for individuals aged 14 and older across a variety of divisions, including Animal Services, Brampton On Stage, Community Emergency Response Volunteers (CERV), and Recreation. Brampton welcomes all those interested in making a difference to learn more and get involved by visiting brampton.ca/volunteers.
Mayor Patrick Brown emphasized that more than 1,000 dedicated residents volunteer their time and talents to support City programs and services. He expressed the City’s deep appreciation for their compassion and commitment, calling volunteers “the heartbeat of our community” and acknowledging the waves of positive change they inspire every day.
