City of Brampton Launches First Annual Book Week, Celebrating Storytelling, Culture, and Community

The City of Brampton is proud to officially launch its first annual Brampton Book Week, a dynamic, week-long celebration of storytelling, literacy, and local literary talent that runs from April 23 to May 4, 2025.

This new citywide initiative highlights the transformative power of the written and spoken word, and invites residents and visitors alike to connect through stories that reflect Brampton’s diversity and vibrancy. In its inaugural year, Brampton Book Week proudly aligns with the 10th anniversary of the Festival of Literary Diversity (FOLD) — one of Canada’s most acclaimed literary festivals, rooted right here in Brampton.

Throughout the week, a wide range of free and ticketed events will bring together readers, writers, and creators across generations. From author talks and poetry showcases to community readings and literary celebrations, Brampton Book Week offers something for everyone.

Patrick Brown, Mayor, City of Brampton

Brampton Book Week is a powerful example of how arts, culture, and literacy come together to strengthen our community. As we mark the 10th anniversary of FOLD, I am proud to support this initiative that amplifies local talent and diverse voices.
Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, Wards 1 & 5; Chair, Community Services

Books ignite our imaginations. A good book is a promise from writer to reader — if you read this, you will understand the world, and yourself, a little better. I’m thrilled to be part of Brampton’s first Book Week. In this city, there are as many stories as there are lives.
Ian Williams, Award-winning author and Brampton Arts Walk of Fame inductee

Brampton Book Week is more than a celebration — it is a movement to foster inclusivity, imagination, and the joy of reading. By spotlighting both established and emerging voices, the City of Brampton is helping ensure every story finds its audience.
